Warm Water, Warmer Welcome

THREE HUNDRED ISLANDS, ONE FEELING

Fiji is an archipelago of more than 300 islands, and only about a third of them are inhabited, which is exactly why it still feels undiscovered despite decades of honeymoon fame. Beyond the overwater bungalow clichés, Fiji is built on "bula" hospitality, a genuine warmth locals extend to visitors, coral reefs among the most biodiverse in the Pacific, and a mix of high-end resort islands and barely-touched outer islands depending on how far you're willing to go.

Where to go in fiji

Fiji's main international gateway and the launch point for most island-hopping itineraries, home to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant orchid gardens and the ornate Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, the largest Hindu temple in the Southern Hemisphere.

Mamanuca Islands

A cluster of small islands just off Nadi, the most accessible and resort-dense part of Fiji, postcard white sand and easy day-trip access to some of the country's best surf breaks and snorkeling.

fezYasawa Islands

A remote, less developed chain further north, where small guesthouses and eco-resorts replace the resort density of the Mamancas, closer to how Fiji felt before mass tourism arrived.

Known as the "Garden Island," Taveuni is one of Fiji's most biodiverse spots, rainforest waterfalls, rare bird species, and some of the best scuba diving in the South Pacific along the Somosomo Strait.
