The Wild Arctic Circle

Four nights on an island tucked into the fjords of northern Norway, far from noise, far from routine. We will arrive by transfer from Tromsø, and from the moment we settle in, the Arctic becomes our rhythm. Mornings begin with a breakfast buffet before we head out into the landscape. Afternoons bring us back to warmth, to lunches and long conversations, to the sauna and the jacuzzi steaming quietly against the cold fjord air.

On the water, we will spend a morning whale watching in the Norwegian Sea, scanning the surface for fins and breath and that particular kind of silence that only the open ocean holds. We will also take to the water after dark on a Northern Lights boat safari, eyes on the sky, waiting for it to move.

On land, we will mush through snow on a dog sledding tour, meet reindeer up close, and sit with a Sami guide for an afternoon that goes beyond activity. He will tell us the history of this land and its people, stories that have been carried across centuries of Arctic winter, and they will stay with us long after we leave.

Two full Northern Lights experiences are woven into our days, one by boat, one on foot through the Arctic dark. And every night, an alarm stands ready, because the sky here performs on its own schedule and we intend to be awake for it.

Three-course dinners gather us together each evening. The fjord outside the window. The lights possibly dancing above it. This is what it means to be truly far away, and fully present at the same time.
