What's an Expedition?CURATED BY ME, LED BY GUIDES I TRUST
An expedition is the most immersive way I know how to send you somewhere. I walk the route myself first, city by city, hotel by hotel, meal by meal, until I trust every piece of it completely. Then I hand it to the local guides who know that ground better than I ever could, the ones who grew up in these old cities, who can get you through a gate before the light changes or into a kitchen most travelers never see. You get their lifelong expertise and my full curation, alongside a group of women who are just as curious as you are. I won't be there, but I'll have set every step of it up for you. Send me a postcard.
Trade the Ordinary
The Silk Road doesn't perform for anyone. Ichan Kala's walls have stood since long before the word "itinerary" existed, and they'll stand long after we're gone. I've stood in the Kalyan minaret's shadow at dusk and watched the tilework shift from turquoise to violet, and understood exactly why Genghis Khan spared it when he burned everything else around it. Some places are older than conquest.
Uzbekistan isn't a checklist, though it will look like one on paper. What actually stays with you is smaller: the forty-year rhythm of a family's kazan in Bukhara, the quiet of Lyabi-Khauz Square where men have played chess under the same mulberry trees for centuries. This is a retreat built for women who want that kind of space, the place itself, exactly as it's always been.

We will meet at Tromsø Airport in Northern Norway on November 16th and drive into the Arctic Circle, where we spend four nights on an island in the fjords. Whale watching. Husky sledding. Northern Lights from a hot tub. Darkness that is not empty but full. This is a retreat for women who are ready to stop being careful and start being free. The Arctic doesn't ask permission. Neither should you.
The EXPEDITION
Six nights across three walled cities at the heart of the Silk Road, far from noise, far from routine. You'll arrive by transfer from Urgench, and from the moment you step through Ichan Kala's gates, the old city becomes your rhythm. Mornings begin with breakfast before you head out into the streets with your guide. Afternoons bring you back to rest, to lunches and long conversations, to courtyards and teahouses shaded against the desert heat.
In the old cities, you'll walk through centuries of trade and faith, past madrasas, minarets, and caravanserais that still hold their original shape. You'll climb the Kunya Ark watchtower and Bukhara's fortress walls, eyes on the skyline, waiting for the light to turn the tilework from turquoise to gold.
With local hands, you'll sit with artisans for an afternoon that goes beyond a workshop, embroiderers, carpet weavers, bakers shaping bread the way their families always have. They'll tell you the history of this craft, traditions carried across centuries of Silk Road trade.
Two folk performances are woven into the days, one in a Khiva madrasa courtyard, one in Bukhara. And most evenings, dinner gathers the group at a shared table, one night with a local family, the kazan still warm from the fire.
Three-course dinners close each day. The old city outside the window. The call to prayer possibly drifting over it. This is what it means to walk a road this old, and still feel entirely present in it.
