TRAVEL Reminders
Entry Requirements for Australia
A visa and valid passport is required to enter Australia. Some countries passport holders can enter Australia on an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) and this can be applied for online, and once approved, is valid for 12 months. I strongly advise that you apply for this as soon as possible especially if traveling in peak or holiday seasons. Please click here for all information and to obtain the visa or ETA.
Note: We (Otherworldly Travel LLC) are not liable for any loss or expense due to the clients failure to comply with this requirement.
Travel Insurance
We highly recommend you purchase appropriate travel insurance for the duration of your trip to include but not limited to medical, cancellation, luggage and unexpected delays. Please provide us with a copy of your travel insurance policy or policy number.
International Flights
International flights are not included in this itinerary. Should you require assistance purchasing these, please let us know.
Weather and Seasons
Australia’s seasons are opposite to those in the northern hemisphere, with summer from December to February and winter from June to August. The climate varies significantly by region, so check the local weather for your destination.
Tipping
Tipping is not mandatory in restaurants and cafes but you can round up or leave a 10% on your bill. Tipping at bars and pubs is rare. For taxis, it’s common to roundup. For bellhops at hotels, it’s customary to tip a few dollars. For guides, we recommend anywhere between $20-$40 USD for tours if you’re feeling inclined.

10:00am: You will be met at The Lyall by your guide for your Mornington Peninsula tour. Mornington is Victoria’s best-kept secret. The short cruise to Mornington is a great chance to chat with your guide and share your interests so they can work to tailor your experience to you. Your journey takes you South East of Melbourne along the beautiful Port Phillip coastline. Beyond the bay, Mornington’s ocean beaches are breathtaking, plus with wineries and produce to challenge the Yarra Valley it is really hard to beat.
En route to the Peninsula, a stop at a favorite local wildlife park is a must. Be amazed by close encounters with kangaroos, koalas, and a host of other native animals. The Mornington Peninsula has some classic sparkling to get the day’s wine tasting underway. Tastings can be enjoyed at a number of local cellar doors, with the opportunity to venture behind the scenes with the winemaker.
Use your afternoon to visit hidden beaches among Victoria’s wild coastline for a stroll or take the picturesque drive up to Arthur’s Seat. Day at Leisure
Spend the morning at the National Gallery of Victoria. Please note we can offer a private behind the scenes experience at the NGV at an extra cost. The National Gallery of Victoria is the oldest, most prestigious and most visited gallery in the country. Step into a world of artistic wonders as you explore the expansive exhibition halls of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) filled with renowned masterpieces and thought-provoking contemporary works. Assisted by a private curator and director of the gallery, learn about the iconic art that fills the walls. Hear the sometimes dodgy ways the art was collected.. or found… Go behind the scenes with special access to the NGV Conservation rooms, a part of the gallery that most staff have not had access to before. Anything from Rembrandt to Picasso can be seen within these hidden rooms.
Visit the Melbourne Museum and the Royal Exhibition Building.
Wander through the laneways and discover street art and hidden cafes. Attend a performance at the Melbourne Recital Centre (we can help book your tickets).
We recommend visiting the State Library of Victoria, located in the heart of Melbourne. It is one of Australia's oldest and most significant libraries. Founded in 1854, it houses over 2 million books, historical documents, maps, and artworks. The library is well-known for its grand architecture, particularly the La Trobe Reading Room, which features a majestic domed ceiling.
