Why should I plan your trip? Ninety percent of what lives here exists nowhere else on earth. That's not a statistic I take lightly.

REMOTE BIODIVERSITY, BAREFOOT LUXURY

Madagascar split from mainland Africa some 88 million years ago, and it shows, lemurs, baobabs, chameleons found in no other country on earth evolved in isolation here. Andasibe's rainforest opens the trip with that biodiversity up close, indri lemurs calling through the canopy at dawn. The coast slows everything down, barefoot luxury at the edge of the Indian Ocean, days measured by tide rather than schedule. Antananarivo, the capital, closes the loop, hillside markets and colonial architecture layered over a thousand years of Malagasy history.

Where to go in
MADAGASCAR

Andasibe

Rainforest reserve home to the indri, the largest living lemur species, whose eerie, far-carrying call is one of the most distinctive sounds in the animal kingdom, best heard on a guided dawn walk through the canopy.

Antananarivo

Known locally as "Tana," Madagascar's hillside capital layers French colonial architecture over a deep Malagasy history, hillside markets and the royal palace, Rova, offering a cultural counterpoint to the wilder stretches of the trip.

The Coast

Madagascar's coastline trades rainforest density for barefoot simplicity, quiet beaches, warm Indian Ocean water, and a pace defined entirely by tide and daylight rather than itinerary.

Tsingy de Bemaraha

Marlborough’s vineyards offer world-class wines and elegant estates. Private tastings, guided vineyard walks, and boutique lodges provide intimate connections with New Zealand’s renowned wine country. Sunset views over rolling hills and rivers complete the experience.
