Beyond the Beaches

MORE DRAMATIC THAN EXPECTED

Lush pine forests tied up with raging waterfalls. Endless dark caves with darker history that unfolds as you canoe through them. A helicopter ride showed massive drops in topography and green landscape I'd failed to consider. The Barrier Reef is a world of its own, where small pretty beaches are overshadowed by what you find underneath the blue surface. This is the perfect long weekend escape given its proximity to other destinations, but given its staggering beauty, Belize is a journey of its own.
