Old City, New Skyline

A CENTURY OF CROSSROADS

Singapore has always been a crossroads, a trading port before it was a skyline. A postcard in my own collection, sent from Singapore's Chinese Temple in 1910, is proof the city was drawing travelers long before Marina Bay Sands existed. Today that same instinct for exchange shows up everywhere: hawker centers built on generations of Chinese, Malay, and Indian food traditions, colonial shophouses restored beside glass towers, and one of the most efficient, walkable cities in Asia connecting all of it.

Marina Bay

Singapore's modern skyline in a single frame, Marina Bay Sands' rooftop infinity pool, the Gardens by the Bay's illuminated Supertrees, and a waterfront built almost entirely on reclaimed land within the last few decades.

Sentosa Island

A resort island just off the mainland, beaches, theme parks, and luxury hotels offer a lower-key, more relaxed counterpoint to the density of downtown Singapore.

Chinatown

Colonial-era shophouses, incense-filled temples, and some of the city's best hawker food sit within a compact, walkable district, a direct link to the trading port Singapore was over a century ago.

Little India & Kampong Glam

Two of Singapore's most vibrant ethnic districts, spice shops and temples in Little India, the golden dome of Sultan Mosque and boutique shopping in Kampong Glam, both proof of the city's genuinely multicultural roots.
